From the Senate floor
The Jan. 8 senate meeting was somewhat shorter than usual as the only vote was on three policies that was an all passed or nothing vote. They all passed, and this was actually something that would impact students directly, as releasing faculty due to financial reasons, declining enrollment and program elimination.
This impacts the students as there could be faculty that are let go because the programs that they teach are cut or don’t have the enrollment to keep the professor in their position.
I have been a Student Senator for the last 2 1/2 years. I have been to most of the monthly Senate meetings.
The work of a senator is done in various committees we are a part of, not necessarily in the senate assembly and senate meetings.
I usually bring home work or other things to occupy the time. I’m not the only one who does this; faculty and staff bring work to grade and laptops to work on.
Delta President Jean Goodnow discussed the state of the Ricker Center and importance of keeping Delta in the Saginaw community.
