Stand up comedy comes to the Temple Theatre
The Temple Theatre has become a hot spot for stand up comedians who are touring the East Coast. Saginaw’s Temple Theatre offers a comedy club the first and third Wednesday of every month in the Leopard Lounge. For some lively entertainment and a laugh that will leave your stomach aching, stop in the Temple Theatre’s Leopard Lounge Comedy Club and see what the fun is all about.
Inside the Temple Theatre there’s the Leopard Lounge; a dark modest setting with cocktail tables dispersed throughout the room. In the front of the room sits a small stage where comedians from all over the United States come to entertain.
“The atmosphere is really nice,” said attendee DeMerris Biggins-Daniels. “The setting is good and there’s not a bad seat in the house. Be careful sitting up front though or else you’ll get picked on.”
Joining the Temple Theater on Wednesday, Feb. 5 was headliner Scott Long with Jeremy Greenburg as the opening act. Most comedians including Long and Greenburg include adult material in their acts, so there is an 18 and older rule for those who wish to attend.
“I came tonight for a mother daughter date,” said Kelsey Lewis, show attendee. “It’s a good time and it’s something to do. You get to experience the best of the Temple Theatre; it’s entertaining, fun and a cultural event.”
The Temple Theatre’s Leopard Lounge Comedy Club featured Tommy Thompson and Mike O’Keefe on Feb. 19, and will feature Michael Harrison and Emily Galati on Mar. 5.
“I’d definitely recommend the Comedy Club to anyone looking for a good time. You can’t beat cheap, casual and good ole fun,” Biggins-Daniels said.
Doors open every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Temple Theatre’s Leopard Lounge in Saginaw. There is a cash bar open for those attending including popcorn and candy with soda beverages or heavier concessions such as alcoholic beverages.
Tickets range from ten to twelve dollars for different seats, and student discounts are offered. Anyone interested in making reservations or ordering tickets in advance may call 989-754-SHOW.
