Potential sites for new Saginaw center presented to Board

Leaders from the City of Saginaw presented information on potential sites and incentives to the Delta College Board of Trustees at a special meeting on Feb. 20.

Tim Morales, Saginaw City Manager, presented five potential sites for the new Saginaw center.

“The City of Saginaw is the daily destination for thousands of people,” said Morales. “We want

your students to share in that experience.”

All potential sites Morales presented have at least 40,000 square feet available for the building and space for at least 200 parking spaces.

Located in the Old Town zone on Riverfront property. It is four acres, city-owned and close to restaurants and Covenant Hospital.

Located in the Downtown zone on Riverfront property. It is three and a half acres, city-owned and close to TV-5, the Temple Theatre and the Dow Event Center.

Located in the Covenant zone on Davenport and Michigan property. It is eight acres, city-owned and close to TV-5 and SASA.

Located in the Covenant and Downtown zones on Riverfront property. It is three acres, owned by the school district and close to SASA, the Temple Theatre and the Dow Event Center.

Located in the Covenant zone on Michigan Avenue and State Street I-675 property. It is three acres, developer-owned and close to downtown and SASA.

Tom Miller, Vice President of Urban Development and Special Initiatives for the City of Saginaw, presented potential incentives for the project. These included Downtown Development Authorities, New Markets Tax Credit Program and Michigan Community Revitalization Program. All the programs mentioned are dependent on the chosen zone and site.12
