The Pioneers took the win against St. Clair with a final score of 91-87 on Jan. 18.
The Pioneers blew open a relatively close game early on and led 49-35 at intermission. In the second half they scored early and often and at one time led by as many as 20 points.
The Skippers went on a furious rush to make a competitive game. They pulled to within a single digit margin several times during the final eight minutes, but Delta held on for the win.
“The big thing is we took away a win,” Assistant Coach Chuck Lord said. “It was big in the conference because we were both 1-3. That puts us a game up on them, and that’s big.”
According to Lord, the Pioneers showed a lot of resiliency in hanging on for a tough win.
